Monel alloys are mainly used in environments that require superior corrosion resistance properties. As a group of alloys, whose chemical composition primarily consists of nickel and copper, Monel Flanges have a high mechanical strength making them useful in sectors like chemical processing, marine engineering, petrochemical, and the oil and gas industry. Moreover, in alkylation units, equipment that come in direct contact with hydrofluoric acid can be connected using the Uns N04400 Flange, because it offers excellent resistance to this acid at all concentration, at varying temperatures.
In fact, the resistance of the Monel K500 Flanges to acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid in reducing conditions makes them suited to be used across chemical processing plants. In chemical processing units, the combination of high temperature and the presence of oxygen generally causes oxidation, which originally affects steel alloys. However, the high content of nickel in the Din 2.4360 Slip On Flange ensures resistance to corrosion at elevated temperatures. Another application where the alloy works well is in the transportation of reactive cylinder gases. Typically, PTFE components are used to ferry across gases. Yet, a high pressure delivery system for hydrogen chloride makes use of grade ASTM B564 Alloy 400 Flange for two reasons. One the alloy is resistant to hydrogen chloride gas. And two, this alloy can keep up with the stress of being in a high pressure delivery system. Some industries use extremely high temperatures, which can deform traditional alloys, causing them to snap under heat and pressure. The toughness of Monel 400 Pipe Flanges is at such a level that it can withstand heat without giving in to deformation.
