The most common reason for any industry to use Inconel components is because it is an alloy that delivers excellent performance, despite being exposed to high temperatures, when ordinary alloys fail. As an alloy that includes nickel as its primary alloyant, this excellent property is why today, any Inconel Flanges Manufacturer would recommend using them in corrosive environments.
From being used in the marine engineering industry to the chemical processing sector, corrosion resistance is also why some Inconel grades are referred to as superalloy. With excellent resistance to oxidation, even in environments where the temperature reaches as high as 980°C, Inconel 718 RTJ Flange is an alloy that exhibits excellent mechanical properties. The chemical composition, coupled with the fact that this alloy is a gamma prime strengthened one makes it possible for these flanges to be used in cryogenic temperatures as well. With excellent mechanical properties at extreme temperatures and good resistance to various types of corrosion, Inconel 625 Flanges exhibit good strength at high temperatures. Resistance to acids and alkalis ensure good performance in structural applications at elevated temperatures, even if the components used have thinner cross sections. Unlike conventional alloys that give into SCC, the ASTM B564 Inconel 625 Weld Neck Flange is virtually immune to cracking in the presence of chloride ions. Thus they are suited to applications that contain chlorine based reagents or solutions. Another Inconel alloy that has an excellent performance in chorine media is grade 600. The production of titanium dioxide (chloride route) is possible without the application failing because the Inconel 600 Blind Flange is resistant to SCC as well. Although these alloys are useful at elevated temperatures, the best grade that is often recommended for exhibiting heat resistance behavior is Inconel 825 Flanges, without any compromise to its mechanical properties.
