It is common to use either alloy steel or carbon steel grades for applications involving general engineering. While carbon steels have high hardness and are tough, the other mechanical properties of alloy steel High Tensile Fasteners tend to be much superior to the former. To standardize the production process of all fasteners, the use of standards or specifications is common practice amongst most high tensile fasteners manufacturers in India. In fact, the atmospheric resistance to corrosion exhibited by the SF568 HT Heavy Hex Nuts tends to be far superior to carbon steel fasteners, produced without adding copper to their alloy. This is why it is possible to use these fasteners without any surface treatment or coating. The weathering characteristics of the ASTM F568 High Tensile Double Ended Studs in property classes 8.8.3 and 10.9.3 are similar to steel grades that belong to specification A 588.
